From 2020 onwards, the NEET-UG is the only common pre-medical test in India. And it will be for the second time that the upcoming NEET-UG 2021 will be conducted as a single pre-medical test. Thus, it will be conducted to provide admission to all the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions of India. Admissions to these institutions include all types of medical colleges of India that impart undergraduate medical courses. Additionally, all the admissions to the MBBS course in JIPMER and all AIIMS will also be decided through NEET.
Moreover all the Citizens of India or the Indian Overseas Citizens who wish to pursue any Undergraduate Medical Courses from a foreign including any Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, or Homeopathy Institute need to qualify NEET (UG) - 2020.
NEET 2021 will have a total of 180 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) with four options that will have a single correct answer or the best option. These MCQs will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) having following the breakup of the number of questions and their marks:-

Each MCQs will carry four marks, i.e. the students will get four marks for each correct answer or best option. One mark will be deducted from the total score for each incorrect answer.
Although, if more than one option of any MCQ is found to be correct after the process of key challenge, then all or any one of the marked multiple correct options or the best options will be given positive four marks.
On the other hand, any incorrectly marked option will be credited minus one mark. Whereas, unanswered or un-attempted questions will be credited with no marks. In case, if any student of NEET-UG 2021 drops or ignores a question which was wrongly put up in the paper then all the students will be granted four marks. those type of compensatory marks would be granted irrespective of whether the candidate has attempted that question or not, given that the NTA announces compensating for those wrong questions.
NEET UG 2021 is a pen and paper-based test of three hours. Wherein the students can opt for NEET 2021 paper in any one of the 11 languages that are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
There are certain age eligibility for appearing in NEET-UG 2020, these are as follows:-
The candidates should have an age of 17 years at the time of admission to any undergraduate medical courses. Or will complete 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the year when he/she would be enrolled in the first-year undergraduate medical courses.
For NEET UG 2021, the students must have attained an age of 17 years or will complete 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2021.
The defined upper age limit for NEET-UG 2021 as on the date of NEET examination is 25 years. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for the students belonging to SC, ST, and OBC-NCL category as well as PwD (Persons with Disabilities) students.
Eligibility to get seats through NEET 2021 that falls under the control of States, Deemed Universities or Central Universities are as follows:-
Indian citizens, NRIs, OCI, PIO as well as the Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, or Homeopathy Colleges. However, they need to satisfy the rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Government of India or the Institutions whichever may concern.
To get a seat in any medical college of any State Government, Deemed Universities or Central Universities, the foreign nationals may confirm their eligibility from the concerned colleges or medical institutions.
The Indian citizens, non-resident Indians, Overseas Citizen of India, Persons of Indian Origin as well as the foreign nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
Students from the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats through NEET UG 2020. Since two regions have opted out of the All India Scheme for the seat quota structure since its inception.
In case of any students who claim their eligibility, he/she submit an online Self Declaration and present it during the counselling. This Self-Declaration Form testifies that --
“The concerned students are not eligible to appear for the Undergraduate Medical seats in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Therefore he/she is not eligible to seek admission in the Colleges of these two regions. Also, it certifies that the concerned candidate is not a domicile of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.”
However, the students from these two regions can appear in NEET-UG 2020 to seek admission to the Private Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Homeopathy Colleges or any Private or Deemed University. They can also seek admission in AFMC, AIIMS, and JIPMER for MBBS courses through NEET UG 2020, but they need to fulfil the respective eligibility criteria.
MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)/DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services) will conduct counselling for the successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats. And all the seats of Deemed Universities or Central Universities for Undergraduate Medical Courses. These include:-
The counselling for admission to the seats under the control of other States/Universities/Institutions shall be conducted as per the notifications issued separately by the authorities concerned. As per the notifications issued separately by the concerned counselling will be conducted for admission to the seats that fall under the control of other States or Universities or Institutions.
Additionally, other entities of Central/State Governments may also utilize the result of NEET-UG 2021 for the admission purpose as per their rules.
Thus, the responsibility of NTA is limited to the conduction of the whole process of the exam only. Which includes the following events:-

Currently, conduction of the NEET Examination is the responsibility of the NTA. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education was the testing body of NEET Before 2019, so there were some differences in the type of questions.
